FAQs

Below you'll find answers to our most frequently asked questions.

Every Bramston Goldsmithing piece is designed and hand crafted with great care in Toronto, Canada. Designer, Goldsmith, and Gemmologist Shelley Bramston personally oversees the creation of every piece, along with a small team of Toronto’s most talented and dedicated jewellers and craftsmen. Components that are not typically hand-made, such as chains and earring backings, are responsibly sourced from vetted suppliers and always disclosed so that you can be 100% confident in the full origins of your heirloom.

By trusting us with the creation of your heirloom (whether custom or ready-to-wear) you are supporting an independent artisan business with a focused awareness on our materials and production. We take great pride in our practices and are committed to responsible sourcing and manufacturing. Responsible sourcing is knowing where the materials you use to create your products come from.

Every gemstone and diamond used in a Bramston Goldsmithing piece is hand selected by certified Gemmologist Shelley Bramston. Shelley ensures that every stone meets her impeccable standards and is sourced from our trusted network of suppliers. Whenever possible for a design, we prefer to use heritage (recycled) diamonds and recycled gold as this is an important part of our commitment to sustainability.

We have long-established and very personal relationships with every supplier and only work with companies we have thoroughly vetted to uphold our highest standards of both ethics and quality.

Our jewellery is designed and crafted to be loved and to last, however all fine jewellery should be treated with care. Our warranty policy covers jewellery purchased from Bramston Goldsmithing and covers manufacturing defects and craftsmanship for 6 months from the date of purchase. This includes the replacement of small diamonds or gemstones under 2mm at no cost unless the item shows signs of undue wear and tear. Centre stones are not warranted. This warranty is voided for any item worked on by another jeweller and does not cover theft, loss, neglect, abuse, contact with chemicals, everyday wear and tear or any use outside of the accepted patterns of wear.  It is recommended to insure your jewellery with your home insurance or a third party company to cover loss, theft, or damage and that you have your jewellery inspected annually and maintained as required.

Bramston Goldsmithing is not responsible for items that display signs of undue damage or wear and tear. All diamonds and gemstones can be scratched or chipped and we do not guarantee our stones against this type of damage.

At this time, items shipped internationally are not valid for the Bramston Goldsmithing warranty due to the complexity of customs and shipping.

Beyond the warranty period or for repairs due to damage or otherwise not covered by this warranty, please contact us and we will quote you for any possible repairs on a case-by-case basis.

Your Bramston Goldsmithing heirloom is designed to be comfortable and durable. Proper care will help keep your jewellery looking beautiful and we recommend the following for all fine jewellery:

Remove your jewellery while swimming or using hot tubs, when applying moisturizer, sunscreen, using household chemicals, and while exercising or any physical activities that may damage gemstones and scratch the gold. We also recommend removing your jewellery while showering and sleeping, particularly more delicate items such as necklaces, chains, and bracelets.

Avoid using commercial cleaners as they are full of harsh chemicals and avoid heavy use of hand sanitizer directly on gemstones, particularly softer gems like opals.

For any further inquiries on how to properly care for your piece, please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to advise you.

We want you to be completely happy with your new heirloom and we offer a 10-day exchange policy on items purchased from our ready-to-wear (in stock) collection.
